What the DTV is
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a five-year, multiple-entry visa for people who want to spend long periods in Thailand. Each time you enter you can stay for up to 180 days, and you can extend that stay once by up to another 180 days. For many long-stay visitors it replaces the cycle of visa-free entries and border runs, especially now that visa-free entry gives only 30 days (since 15 September 2026).
The DTV has two broad groups of applicants: remote workers and people taking part in Thai “soft-power” activities such as Muay Thai, Thai cooking or Thai language courses. NomadNest currently prepares DTV applications under the soft-power category with Muay Thai training.
Who qualifies
To apply under the soft-power route you need:
- a passport valid for at least six months;
- enrolment in a recognised soft-power activity, which we arrange for you;
- financial proof of at least 500,000 baht in your own bank account, held for at least three months;
- to be outside Thailand, in the country where you lodge the application.
The financial requirement is strict. Embassies check the balance and how long it has been held, and they reject edited or inconsistent statements. If your savings do not yet meet the requirement, wait until they do rather than submitting early.
How we help
Most refusals come from small, avoidable problems: a statement that does not show the account holder’s name, an expired document, a blurry scan, a missing page. Our job is to catch those before the embassy does.
Before you apply
We check your eligibility and nationality-specific options during a free consultation. You only pay once we have confirmed that we can take your case.
While we prepare your file
We review every passport page, your bank statement and your photo, arrange the Muay Thai enrolment, and build the application in the format the e-Visa system expects. You get one clear list of anything that needs fixing.
After submission
We monitor the application and help you answer any request for additional documents. When the visa is granted, we explain how to enter Thailand, how to count your 180 days and when to plan your DTV extension.
Our refund commitment
If a DTV application prepared by NomadNest is refused, we refund our service fee in full. This is the only promise we make about outcomes: the decision always belongs to the Thai embassy or consulate.
Timing
Allow about one to two months from the start of preparation to a decision. Processing times vary by embassy and season, so start early if you have fixed travel dates, and do not book non-refundable travel until your visa is approved.
After you arrive
A DTV holder still has to follow the normal reporting rules. Your accommodation must file a TM30 notification, and if you stay in Thailand for more than 90 days in a row you must file a 90-day report. We can handle both through our 90-day report and TM30 service.
Price
Our fee depends on your nationality, where you apply and whether family members are applying with you. Message us for a quote.
Read the DTV requirements checklist for a step-by-step list you can work through before contacting us.
Questions clients ask us
How long is the DTV valid and how long can I stay?
The DTV is a five-year multiple-entry visa. Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days, and you can extend each stay once by up to 180 days at an immigration office.
Can I apply from inside Thailand?
No. The DTV is applied for through the Thai e-Visa system while you are outside Thailand, in the country where you submit the application. Plan to stay there until the application is lodged and any follow-up requests are answered.
What happens if my DTV is refused?
If a DTV application we prepare is refused, we refund our service fee in full. The final decision always rests with the Thai embassy or consulate.
Which DTV categories do you handle?
We currently prepare applications under the soft-power category with Muay Thai training. If you want to apply as a remote worker or under another category, message us first and we will tell you whether we can help.
Do I need an interview?
Interviews are not normally part of the process, but the embassy can ask for extra documents or clarification at any time. We help you respond quickly and correctly.
Can my spouse and children come with me?
Yes. Your spouse and children can apply for DTV dependant visas. They need their own passports and proof of the family relationship. Message us for a quote that includes family members.
How much does the DTV service cost?
Our fee depends on your nationality, where you apply and who is travelling with you. Message us for a quote.
Not sure which visa fits you?
Tell us your situation and we will recommend the right route — free, no obligation.
